Friday Stretch: Skiing the Big, Teacher Training Life Lessons, Dare to Bare, Yoga Superheroes

IMG_6155

Whoo hoo! I skied my first Big Couloir this week (actually, I skied it twice)! In my typical fatalistic fashion, I waaaay over thought it and almost psyched myself out. It’s really not a good idea to fall, because it’s so steep and rocky, and that sort of “no room for error” situation freaks me out. But, after a bunch of prompting from Tim that I’m more than capable, I took the plunge and had a blast, although I did ski it pretty carefully. New goal: ski it better, faster and stronger this season.

Of course, this experience made me think. How many times have I over thought something and convinced myself I wasn’t capable when I actually was? What opportunities (for enjoyment, for success) am I passing  up because of fear of failure? Do you have any “Big Couloirs” in your life in which you’d be happier and more fulfilled if you took the plunge?

Here’s the fitness and wellness content that inspired me this week.

Have a great weekend!

Some super thought-provoking life lessons from a former journalist’s experience with yoga teacher training … that actually have very little to do with yoga. (via Well + Good)

I’m looking forward to fundraising for this charity fitness festival  in SF in May. East-coasters, it’s coming to NYC in Oct! (via Movemeant Foundation)

You know that yoga has gone mainstream when Kevin Smith makes a movie about yoga superheroes. I’ll be keeping my expectations low on this one :-) (via YogaDork)
