Weekly Fitspo: Combatting Body Shaming with a “Perfect Body”

Happy Friday! This week has been a bit all work and no play, but I did enjoy a (winning!) league tennis match on Tuesday night. And this morning I practiced with one of my regular hitting partners Hannah, who will be the subject of a fun upcoming post. Stay tuned …

This week, I have just one piece of inspiring content from around the web, but it’s important enough to stand on it’s own.

Blogilates founder Cassey Ho blew up the Internet a bit this week with a raw and honest video that will inspire you to love and accept the body you have.

Cassey is known for her positive, uplifting approach to fitness, and is in amazing shape. Yet, as a public figure, she faces negative comments about her body all of the time.

She made this video — in which she appears to photoshop her own body in real-time — to send a powerful message about the damaging social norms and unrealistic standards we have for what makes a truly “fit” or “in-shape” body.

It certainly hit home with me and also made me think of the many beautiful and strong women in my life who have struggled with their own body image.

3 million+ views already, and I hope it keeps spreading. Help spread the message and share it yourself!
